V1 Update!
When I first made Dare the Dice, it was hardly more than an idea. I submitted it at the very last minute to the Minimalist RPG Jam, which is a bit embarrassing, because that feels like a very low bar to reach. Still, I felt it was a good idea and deserved to be shared. I really enjoyed the split-and-push dice pool mechanic, and how that could make for fast-paced, action-driven storytelling with plenty of tension and opportunities for teamwork.
I knew that the original document looked boring as hell, because, well, it was made for the Minimalist jam, but it was only recently that I realized that the original document was full of typos and errors, too.
I want to share quality games with people. I don’t want to share slop, even if it is for a minimalist jam. So I decided to give DtD the proper update and facelift it deserves. It has plenty of fixes and some new additions that should make it much more clear, easy, and fun to play. Hopefully the general concept of the game makes more sense now, too. It’s almost like it’s a real game now!
Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoy!
