The Scroll of Changes

The Scroll of Changes is a system-neutral, setting-neutral oracle tool for tabletop roleplaying games. It is designed to generate inspiration for events, quests, and challenges for protagonists to face, as well as the setting elements, themes and ideas that surround those events.

It also provides inspiration for how the story, the world and its characters will change as a result of the events you create.

The Scroll is based on the I Ching (the Book of Changes) - An ancient Chinese divination text similar to Tarot. It uses the philosophical concepts of Yin and Yang to generate events.  Events combine into the I Ching's Trigrams to generate setting elements and themes.

I am neither Chinese, nor a scholar of this ancient text, so please consider this Scroll to be nothing more than an imperfect labor of love and reverence for the I Ching and storytelling games.

The Scroll of Changes can be easily printed on one page (front and back) of US letter sized paper, to easily integrate into your games whenever you need a quick dose of inspiration!

This Scroll is a self-contained component of my upcoming game: Wanderer's Way.
